Subject Description
Teacher in Charge: Elliot Moka.
Year 10 Social Studies has a greater focus on global issues and how Aotearoa New Zealand fits into the global community. Students will develop a greater awareness of the impacts we have as citizens and consumers on both the environment and other people. It is important to be aware of past and present challenges so we can better prepare for the future.
Topics studied include human rights, World War II, climate change and society, and examining future trends for society due to technological change. Students will be assessed on their ability to understand perspectives, conduct research, read text for meaning, and develop their own point of view on a Social Studies topic.
This is a compulsory course for all Year 10 students.
