Subject Description

This course explores a range of important ideas, such as culture and values, that shape consumer perspectives, organisations’ pūtake, financial and non-financial decision-making.  It looks at how whānau, communities, and organisations are financially interdependent and how society benefits through kaitiakitanga, enterprise, innovation, and whanaungatanga. This course provides the foundation for students to pursue individual subjects of Accounting, Business Studies, and Economics at Level 2 in Year 12.

Term 1
Intended Learning Outcomes for the term:
92028 Students will be learning to:
• explain some financial tools used by an organisation for financial management
• explain how stakeholder perspectives informed the decision-making
• explain and evaluate possible consequences of the decision for the organisation and stakeholders.
• students must include discussion of pūtake in the context of the organisation’s financial decision-making

Term 2
Intended Learning Outcomes for the term:

92029 Students will be learning to:
• explain how the determination of price could be affected by a change in an internal or external factor (Internal factors refer to any circumstances within and under the control of the organisation, and which may have financial implications for the organisation such as:-
• staffing
• processes
• organisational structure.
External factors refer to any circumstances outside and under no control of the organisation, such as:-
• legislation and regulation
• competition
• customers and suppliers
• explain options for changing, or not changing, the price, supported by financial or non-financial information, and
• use an accounting, business and economics model or concept

Term 3
Intended Learning Outcomes for the term:-Exam focus
92030 Students will be learning to:
• evaluate how interdependent financial relationships are affected by an event involves:
• analyse decisions that could be made in response to the impact of the event on interdependent financial relationships.
• explain how Interdependent financial relationships may be affected by:
• koha
• tauhokohoko, including exchanges involving a value or equivalent
• internal and external stakeholders
• government, for example rights and responsibilities
• funding and banking

Term 4
Intended Learning Outcomes for the term:
Students will be revising 92030v2 to prepare for the external examination.
(Candidates will be required to answer one question with multiple parts in response to a case study scenario. The case study scenario will include information on four or five participants in society, which may include whānau, hapū, iwi, community organisations, and businesses. Candidates will describe how a minimum of three financially interdependent relationships are affected by an event)

Recommended Prior Learning

There is no pre-requisite but knowledge from 10MMS or 10BUS would be an advantage

Assessment Information

Two internal assessments completed within the first half of the course.
One external assessment AS92030v2 during the NZQA - NCEA examination period at the end of the year. Assessment medium: Online
Candidates will be required to answer one question with multiple parts in response to a case study scenario.
