L3 Design and Visual Communication
Subject Description
Students will communicate graphically, solving an architectural design problem. They will develop a range of visual communication techniques and use this inspiration to demonstrate innovation and creativity in their own conceptual ideas and development. The learning is student focused and requires mature work habits and good time management skills. This course will help any student moving onto a Design or Technological career, such as Product Design, Architecture or Engineering or a Trade Apprenticeship.
Pre-requisites: Has Achieved AS91341, or with HOD approval

Subject Overview
Term 1
Initiate design ideas through a chosen inspiration source.
Students learn to undertake effective Design/project research based on local site analysis.
Term 2
Students learn to create a detailed design
Students begin to learn amount presentation images and modelling
Term 3
Students learn to compose a exhibition design catered to a specific audience
Students have the option to create technical drawings in response to a brief.
Term 4
Students learn to refine and present a final design outcome through a portfolio and exhibition.

A.S. 91631 v3 Design and Visual Communication 3.34 - Produce working drawings to communicate production details for a complex design will be an optional standard for some students.Credit Information
