Subject Description
- The course will provide you with the foundation you need for NCEA Level 1 Chinese to begin communicating with familiar topics.
- By the end of the course, you will be able to talk about daily routines, hobbies, and school life, communicate information about the places around our community, ask and give directions, and discuss the weather and transportation.
- Students have opportunities to participate in trips, speech competitions, and school cultural activities throughout the year.
Subject Overview
Term 1
Students will be learning to:
-Name different daily activities in Chinese.
-Talk about their own daily routine in Chinese and ask about other people’s daily routines.
-Name different hobbies in Chinese.
-Talk about their hobbies using frequent words.
Term 2
Students will be learning to:
-Name different subjects in Chinese.
-Describe and comment on the subjects they are taking.
-Express their preferences for the subjects they are taking and explain the reasons.
Term 3
Students will be learning to:
-Give information about our school.
-Introduce the location of school facilities.
-Correctly use structures for making comparisons.
Term 4
Students will be learning to:
-Name different modes of transportation in Chinese.
-Describe how to get from one location to another.
-Communicate information about weather and seasons in Chinese.
-Describe the season and weather in Chinese.
