Welcome to year 10 Lea Fakatonga! The aim of this course is to extend the communication foundation you built in Year 9 Tongan. By the end of the course you will be able to:
- Greet, farewell, and acknowledge people in Tongan
- Introduce yourself and others in Tongan
- Demonstrate an understanding of some common aspects of the Tongan culture
- Communicate about yourself and your family, aspects of your home life, school life and other familiar contexts you experience in your day-to-day life

Term 1
Recap – Revisiting the Topics learnt in Year 9:
*Greetings, Introduction, Vocabulary, Formulaic Expressions
* Vocabulary test
* Dictation
* A pre-test to check prior knowledge
* Reading activity
* Recite the Tongan alphabet
* Translating sentences into Tongan to show understanding of Tenses, Pronouns, and proper sentence structures
* Letter blends pronunciation
* Pronunciation of words with glottal stop, macron, double vowels

Year 10 Tongan is designed to extend on the foundation skills and knowledge gained in Year 9 Tongan. The course will enable students to enter into NCEA Level 1 Tongan.
